Webhook

What is a Webhook?

A webhook is a method that allows one application or service to automatically send data to another system when a specific event occurs. Unlike an API request that usually requires one system to actively request information, a webhook can send information immediately after an event, such as a new payment, booking, registration, or other predefined action.

Why it matters

Webhooks help different systems exchange information automatically and can reduce the need to repeatedly check whether data has changed. In mobile app development and no-code integrations, they can be used to trigger workflows, synchronize information, or connect an app with external business services. This makes it possible to automate actions between systems when specific events occur.

Example

A customer completes a payment through a mobile app. The payment service sends a webhook to another system confirming the successful transaction, allowing the application or connected business process to update the payment status automatically.
