Data Synchronization

What is Data Synchronization?

Data synchronization is the process of keeping information consistent and up to date across an application, database, server, and different user devices. In a mobile app, synchronization can update products, prices, bookings, user profiles, articles, services, or other content when information changes in a connected data source.

Why it matters

Data synchronization helps ensure that users see current information without businesses having to manually update every copy of an app. It is particularly important for applications with frequently changing content, shared databases, customer accounts, booking functionality, or information accessed from multiple devices. Synchronization can also support mobile apps that combine online data with content available offline.

Example

A business changes the price and description of a service in its database. Data synchronization allows the updated information to appear in the mobile application, so users can see the current price and description without downloading or reinstalling a new version of the app.
